Kindre Anderton, Lead Olmstead Housing Specialist from Southern Adirondack Independent Living (SAIL) joins us for a presentation of the Olmstead Housing Subsidy and a short presentation on the more front-facing services SAIL provides like durable medical equipment loans and the like.

Olmstead Housing Subsidy (OHS) is a rental housing subsidy program that provides transitional housing support to individuals 55+ years old or have a disability, who live in a nursing home due to a lack of housing in the community. The program does have eligibility requirements, including but not limited to:

Having Medicaid Coverage

Being at or below the income limits

They must be able to live safely in the community with proper supports in place.
